Southborough and District New Years Day 10 mile 2013

This years event held on the Q10/10 was once again well supported with 83 riders on the start sheet, 13 DNS and 1 DNF.

Conditions were unusually good, a bright clear day although slightly chilly. A welcome change from previous years.

The 69 finishers included 4 Thorntons flying the flag, not surprisingly Don was our fastest rider with a very creditable 25.57, placing him 22nd overall.
Congratulations to Eric who despite being the oldest finisher in the field produced a 32.07, which was 3rd best on improvement winning him a case of Little Scotney Ale. Russ, steady as ever smashed the 30 minute mark with 29.36.
Rachelle taking part in probably her only competitive event of the year, (she likes to get it out of the way early to leave the rest of the year free to concentrate on the summer Thursday evening jolly to the pub) finished with 32.08.

A good turn out of support from Thornton members, always welcome by the riders. The scratch event was won by Steve Berry beating his own course record with 21.28.
