Russ and myself opted for the 100 mile version of the reliability trial,
an 07.05 start in sub zero temperatures saw us heading down to the
Marsh before returning to Potters Corner via Tenterden to the first
check point.
We then joined the same route as the big boys, well
documented by Danny. After the descent into Charing we were passed the
half way point and with the temperature rising slightly and no sign of
the forecast rain it was a real pleasure riding with Russ on the gentle
rolling Kentish lanes.
By chance we bumped into Steve Bunn, in his car
obviously. After the second check point it was up the hill at Linten
before making our way back in the general direction of Ashford. 101
miles later we were back at Potters Corner and thanked Paul Mepham for
his time as he kindly gave us our medals even though we were ten minutes
late.
Afraid i can't tell you who " WON " out of Russ and myself as it didn't notice who handed their card back first. After thanking Russ
for the ride it was a gentle cycle back to New Romney and some
satisfying bum on saddle hours under my belt.
