A reliability trial is all about predicting reliably the time in which you will ride the ride, check-in at all check points, and finish in one piece. This year’s reliability trial organised once again by the VTTA Kent Group (www.vtta.org.uk) will be held on Sunday 6 February, starting at 9:00 am at Bethersden Village Hall. As always, there will be two courses of 33 miles and of 50 miles respectively. Both courses are unchanged from previous years’ scheduled routes. Schematically the first is quadrilateral-shaped (Bethersden/Egerton Forstal/Benenden/Tenterden/Bethersden (via Woodchurch) and the second an ungainly triangle (Bethersden/Egerton Forstal/Benenden/Old Romney (via Tenterden, Appledore and Brenzett)/Bethersden (via Ivychurch, Hamstreet and Shadoxhurst). If you need a reminder, both routes are subject to the opening stanza of last year’s mnemonic –
Bethersden north to Pluckley
Then west to Mundy Bois To Egerton and the first check-in
Before a southwest turn…
Entry fee is £2.00 per person if you register in advance or £2.50 if you register on the day. In view of the wayward weather, there is some logic in registering on the day; but be early at Bethersden Village Hall.
