More Events

For those of you want that want to build on fitness and endurance I would recommend the following two events which I will be doing next year;
Burrgess Hill Rumble
The first event is the Burgess Hill Rumble which takes place on 21st March 2010. This is 71 miles and builds on from the Hell of Ashdown, a distance of 60 miles. The route is not too hard with one nasty short climb around half way round. Entry is not open yet but details will be on the website http://www.srs-events.cc/burgess_hill1/index.htm Three rides are available, but this is the hardest and longest of the three rides on the Burgess Hill Springtime Classic event. An excellent event to prepare for the cycling season ahead. With a distance of 71 miles and 1500m of climbing. There are three feed stations on this ride to help riders around the course which has many hills like Pillow Mounds Hill, Kidds Hill & Groombridge Hill . Riders will also have the chance to relish the many descents this testing course offers.
Downland Spring Sportive
The second even is Downland Spring Sportive which takes place on Sunday 11th April 2010. A good few of us did this event last year and it was very good. Entry is now open at http://www.downlandcycles.co.uk/springSportive.htm. This event is 100 miles but generally flat with the main hills starting at Lymne hill, Blackhouse, Etchinghill and Longgage all of which are climbed regularly by us. It would be great to see another good Thornton RC turn out like last year for this local event.
Turkey Basher
Finally, myself and Bob general go out on Boxing day for a short ride to clear out those mince pies and sage stuffing to prepare for the next batch of cold turkey etc. We will be leaving the cafe at 9:30am with a short ride to the back of Aldington via the flats of the marsh, returning around an hour later for those that want to join us we will see you there.
